A special Excellence in Education Award was presented to Kradwell School by CH.A.D.D. Chapter of Southeast Wisconsin, at the February 17th workshop on Educational Rights for Students with AD/HD.
Accepting the award were Karen Hurka, Math & Science Teacher, Lynette Leighton, Asst. Principal and Mark Bialzik, Principal. Karen Hurka submitted the nomination that elaborated on the program structure at Kradwell School designed to accommodate students with attention deficit disorders.
Mark Bialzik commented on the origin of Kradwell's collaboration with CH.A.D.D. In the spring of 1994 Kradwell staff met with Paula Stewart and Ellen Pizer-Kupersmith, both CH.A.D.D. Board members, to plan for a summer program for children with Attention Deficit Disorder. It became clear during this meeting that the structure and flexibility of the Kradwell program were well suited to the A.D.D. population.
Today, Kradwell serves a majority of A.D.D. students. We take pride in our ability to serve these children by responding to their individual needs.
