IMAGINE . . . A warm summer night, surrounded by the company
of friends and neighbors listening to great music...
The rockin’ sounds of Wauwatosa’s own blues-rock virtuoso,
GREG KOCH AND OTHER BAD MEN, including renowned Wisconsin
bluesman JIM LIBAN. Special guest appearance by 8 year old,
blues prodigy TALLAN LATZ AND THE YOUNG GUNS!
Enjoy a savory supper compliments of SAZ'S on State Street
and libations from LEFF'S LUCKY TOWN as you rock the night
away placing bids on a variety of incredible auction items.
Internationally renowned Wauwatosa native
son, Greg Koch, has been called a “twisted guitar genius” and “eclectic
virtuoso” by guitar pundits. But in his own words, Greg describes his
music as “…..bluesy, chicken-icken, funky, quasi-jazzy guitar playing. ”
Greg’s
fascination with the guitar started when, as a third grader, he crafted
cardboard Fender Stratocasters and, using his sister’s sewing machine
pedal as a makeshift “wah-wah” pedal, pretended to rock along to Jimi
Hendrix. This early obsession with Hendrix blossomed into a life-long
love affair with the guitar.
After studying jazz guitar at the
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Greg’s musical maturity led to
national attention as a fiery instrumentalist, winning him 1st Prize in
the 1989 Bluesbreaker Guitar Showdown judged by legendary bluesman,
Buddy Guy. Greg and his band, The Tone Controls, have won five Wisconsin
Area Music Industry (WAMI) Awards for Blues Artist of the Year. Greg has
personally received seven WAMIs as Guitarist of the Year.
Greg has acquired an ever-growing base of
fans who crave music “outside of the box.” His recent release, “Live on
the Radio – Greg Koch and Other Bad Men,” will exceed the expectations
of Koch fans young and old alike!
